| Called the "It bag of the future" by Teen Vogue, this stylish and ridiculously practical bag (sold in packages of 3 and 6) is one easy step in helping save the planet. Baggu ("bag" in Japanese) is machine washable, and folds up into it's own pouch small enough to tuck into your handbag or pocket. Made of super-tough ripstop nylon in bright, fun colors, it's the re-usable bag that's eco-chic. | | Photos courtesy of Dan Martensen. | Why Baggus are so great? You want to replace your old friends, the paper & plastic bags, with something that does their job without creating needless waste or harming the environment. Using one Baggu for one year replaces 300 to 700 disposable bags. -
One Baggu holds the contents of 2 to 3 plastic grocery bags. Six bags can hold a whole cart full of groceries. -
Baggu Bag handles are the perfect length: you can hold them in your hand, on your forearm, or over your shoulder. -
They are made from super strong rip-stop nylon (holds 25 lbs) so they are light (2 oz) and compactible. They fold into a flat 5 by 5 inch pouch that easily slips in a purse or pocket. That way they are always handy when you need them. -
Baggu bags have a nice big gusset in the bottom so they will sit flat when they are filled (good for eggs & milk.) | | Smart Design Baggu was designed by mother-daughter team Joan and Emily in California. They both saw the need for a better reusable bag, and after dozens of prototypes, came up with a solution that makes using reusable bags stylish, practical and easy. | | Baggu is great whether you shop on foot or drive to the store, you always need to have a bag or two that fold up small and can be carried in your purse, ready for an unexpected errand. | | | We use lightweight, hard working fabrics to make bags that will perform years of service in all of our daily toting tasks: groceries, pharmacy purchases, gifts, and books, and pet food, and clothes and ... All the tons of things we find ourselves accepting a disposable bag to bring home. Changing our own shopping habits is one small thing we can do to make a difference. We hope you feel good every time you use your BAGGU. | Plastic Bags & the Planet The average family brings home 1,000 bags every year. Most of those bags end up in land fills. That really adds up - 100 billion plastic bags are sent to landfill in the US each year. In landfills, it can take up to 1000 years for a bag to decompose. Plastics don't biodegrade, they photo-degrade, breaking down into tiny toxic pieces that contaminate soil and water or harm wildlife. Every time you use your Baggu bag instead of plastic or paper you are doing something good. |

They Were Worth Buying December 29, 2008 It's really true when they say you can fit a lot of groceries in these bags. I have been really happy how nicely everything fits into them and I've only used 2 bags at the most when I've shopped. They are pretty comfortable to carry and I tote them on the train and then a pretty good walk home. They feel pretty sturdy and I like the fabric. They wash nicely and then just hang them up and they quickly dry. I chose the black bags because they aren't as flashy walking down the street. They are worth the price.
The bag I've been looking for December 28, 2008 Most of the reusable bags I've seen are ugly, bulky, have store logos I don't necessarily want to be seen carrying, and don't hold much.
This one is different.
A ton of cool colors (mine are safety orange), holds a TON (more than a regulation grocery bag), can crumple up and fit in your pocket, no ugly logo, beautiful design, impossible to break. Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em. Now I can be green--and ORANGE.
Great for you or for gifts December 20, 2008 I have cloth bags from different stores. They don't help me if I forget to take them inside the store.
These are great. They are really roomy. Have their own little holder, that fits great in your purse.. I have two in my purse. That way when you get to check out. You can pull them out of your purse or briefcase and they hold lots.
Best part is they fold right back up and fit in their pouch to go back into your purse for the next time.
I bought four different colors and added them to Christmas gifts.
Fantastic ...
Baggu is Ideal November 27, 2008 I love my baggu's. If you have a problem remembering your reusable bags, this is a perfect solution. When you fold these up they are compact enough to carry several in your purse or backpack so they are always with you. Plus, they have no logo, so if you feel weird about using labeled bags in other stores these solve that issue. Other reviewers have complained that the pouches are not attached to the bag, but this has not been a problem for me. As soon as I open a bag I throw the pouch in the bottom and then load it up. Then as soon as I empty it I fold it back up and put it back in the pouch. No pouches lost doing this. They are light weight, don't shrink in the wash (which many of my other reusable bags have done), can be used anywhere, and hold a lot of weight. I love them!
Nice Size, But Not For Me. November 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Received these bags fairly quickly. They are about twice the size of regular plastic grocery bags. I shop at Kroger and experience a bit of difficulty with these bags staying on the bag rack at self-checkout as well as the baggers having difficulty as well. I still feel a little clumsy with the bags until I can get enough items in them to have them stand on their own. In addition, I keep losing the pouches and wished that somehow they were integrated with the bag. It could be the way the bag stations are designed at the store, but I ended up getting the reusable bags that are the same shape as a brown paper bag. Although they are smaller, they can stand up on their own when empty and generally more convenient for me.
